Student and Scholar

I heard someone say a few weeks ago that they were once students of literature, but now they have earned their Ph.D. and become a scholar. The attitude betrays one of the key problems with how many people look at education. Some see it as a level of knowledge they obtain or a block they check instead of a path to learning. If we really believe in lifelong learning, we will never stop being students, no matter how much of an expert we become.
